After a wonderful three days spent with passionate and driven math professionals from around the state of Florida, one might ask the obvious: What now? How can I begin to apply all the information gained at the 2016 FCTM Annual Conference? Here are 3 tips to help you get started making the most of your experience.
You likely gleaned more than one strategy, idea, or technique that you want to introduce into your teaching, but don’t overstretch yourself. Try one or two ideas and work with them until they become comfortable and assimilate easily into your practice.
As Zack Hill so eloquently said, look for others in your school/district that you can empower with the information you gained at the conference. The only thing better than one educator putting a great idea into action is more than one educator doing so.
You met some great educators during your sessions. Hopefully you shared e-mail info or Twitter handles. Be sure to follow up with them throughout the year. Share your ideas and practices with them and listen to what they are challenging themselves with as well.
