Angie Hui Fang Huang Su
Dr. Hui Fang Huang Angie Su is a Professor at Nova Southeastern University, where she is dedicated to advancing mathematics education through student-centered teaching and innovative curriculum design. Her work emphasizes problem-solving, mathematical modeling, and the integration of technology to deepen conceptual understanding and student engagement.
Dr. Su incorporates tools such as graphing platforms and real-world data Analysis to help students connect mathematics to meaningful, everyday applications. She is particularly committed to supporting diverse learners by fostering confidence, persistence, and critical thinking in the classroom. Her instructional approach aligns with current best practices in mathematics education, encouraging exploration, Discussion, and reasoning.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Su contributes to curriculum development and collaborates with educators to promote effective and inclusive instructional strategies. She is passionate about empowering both students and teachers to see mathematics as a dynamic and accessible discipline.
Anisa Powder
Anisa Powder is a dedicated mathematics educator and professor with over 20 years of experience in secondary and higher education. She currently serves as a Professor of Mathematics at Polk State College and previously worked as a high school math teacher and Teacher Lead with Polk County Schools. Her expertise includes teaching Algebra, Geometry, and college-level mathematics, along with supporting diverse learners through intervention and ESE instruction.
Anisa also brings a strong background in information technology, having served as a department chair, senior lecturer, and online professor in IT-related fields. She holds a Master of Science in Information Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics, along with multiple professional certifications.
Committed to academic excellence and student success, Anisa is actively involved in curriculum development, professional organizations, and initiatives that support effective mathematics instruction.
Dr. Farshid Safi
Dr. Farshid Safi has been an active member of FCTM, and a keynote speaker and presenter at FCTM conferences & events over the last two decades. He brings a great deal of expertise, professional network opportunities across higher education and K-12 spaces and engages collaboratively with colleagues in various educational spaces. He is also currently serving as the President of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), the largest national organization devoted to mathematics teacher education. Dr. Safi is a valued voice and leader in the field of mathematics education, and would welcome the opportunity to engage with FCTM leadership and membership to connect, extend, and help serve organizational goals.
Margaret Bambrick
Margaret Bambrick lives in DeLand, Florida where she served Volusia County Schools for over thirty-nine years in a variety of job roles: 9-12mathematics teacher, mathematics coach, K-12 mathematics specialist, and high school assistant principal. After retiring from her career with Volusia County Schools, she continues to support mathematics and STEM education by providing professional development for math teachers, coaching teachers in their classrooms, and volunteering to help raise student interest in STEM using free resources and technologies. She also currently volunteers in her grandchildren’s elementary schools.
Her love of lifelong learning is evidenced by her participation and leadership in a variety of professional organizations. Throughout her career she has been a member and leader in FCTM, FAMS, VCTM, NCTM, and NCSM, as well as presented and continues to present sessions at many annual conferences for those organizations. She currently serves on the FCTM Board. She continues to invest her time and efforts into motivating students and teachers to share the excitement of mathematics.
Dr. India White
Dr. India White is an esteemed educator and advocate for equity and access in education, currently running for the Equity and Access Chair for FCTM. With two terms as the Equity and Access Chair, she has demonstrated her commitment to ensuring all students receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
As a Gators 40 Under 40 honoree, Dr. White has made significant contributions as a math textbook author and keynote/TEDx Speaker, sharing her expertise on inclusive educational practices. Her experience teaching in Title 1 schools has profoundly shaped her understanding of the barriers faced by underserved communities.
As a former Assistant Principal in Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS), Dr. White developed and implemented initiatives that promote access and achievement , resulting in improved student outcomes. She actively engages with community organizations to raise awareness about educational disparities and works tirelessly to empower families and educators.
Dr. White’s vision for FCTM includes expanding professional development for teachers, increasing access to advanced coursework, and fostering partnerships with community organizations. Her unwavering dedication to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments positions her as a powerful voice for change in the FCTM and beyond.
Elizabeth Pruitt
Liz Pruitt is currently serving as the Treasure for FCTM for the last 6 years. Prior to that position, Liz Pruitt has served as the webmaster and Grants and Awards Chairman. As a member of FCTM, Liz Pruitt has served on standard writing committees, item review committees, and standards setting committees for the last 20 years. She continues to provide insight to the needs of teachers as she works with teachers within her district as the Director of Secondary Curriculum in St. Lucie Public Schools.
Carrie DeNote
I am excited to nominate myself for the role of FCTM Region 4 Director. I bring a strong commitment to supporting educators across Region 4and a deep respect for the diverse schools, communities, and teachers who make this region unique. My work as an educational consultant has allowed me to partner closely with educators, facilitating professional learning that is practical, reflective, and grounded in classroom realities.
I believe effective regional leadership is built on relationships, listening, and shared purpose. I strive to be approachable, collaborative, and responsive, while also maintaining a clear vision for meaningful professional growth. I am passionate about creating opportunities for educators to connect, learn from one another, and feel supported in their work.
If selected, I would work to strengthen communication across the region, celebrate the excellent work already happening, and support FCTM’s mission through thoughtful, inclusive leadership. I am eager to serve Region 4 and contribute positively to our professional community.
Ashley Doty
Ashley Doty is the founder and CEO of Uncomplicate Ed, a fast-growing organization dedicated to helping educators cut through the noise and focus on what works. With experience as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal, Ashley knows firsthand the challenges educators face every day. She is known for her practical, research-based approach, her infectious energy, and her passion for making professional learning meaningful and actionable. Through her work with schools and districts across the country, Ashley helps leaders and teachers bring clarity, confidence, and joy back to the work of helping all students learn at high levels.
Deborah Beavers
Deborah W. Beavers is a dedicated high school mathematics educator at Deltona High School as a Core Math Teacher, committed to helpingstudents build strong mathematical understanding and confidence by moving through the struggle. She has taught courses from Algebra 1A toAnalysis of Function/Trigonometry. She currently serves as President of the Volusia Council of Teachers of Mathematics (VCTM), where shepromotes professional collaboration, instructional excellence, and advocacy for high-quality mathematics education across the district.
Mrs. Beavers is an active leader at the state level, by attending Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics (FCTM) leadership conferences andpresented at FCTM conferences in years past, sharing effective instructional practices and supporting professional growth among mathematicseducators. With a passion for making math accessible and meaningful, she emphasizes clear instruction, high expectations, and supportivelearning environments that foster both academic growth and critical thinking.
Through her work in the classroom and her service in professional organizations, Deborah Beavers continues to positively impact students,colleagues, and the broader mathematics education community.
Heather Cook
As a student who struggled in math I became an educator that never wanted a child to leave my class thinking they weren’t smart because math was hard. I love finding creative ways for everyone to understand math using materials and talking through problems. I am passionate about helping others develop their own ideas through math. Since 2008, I have served as a classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, and math coach. As of 2025, I have returned to my true passion-teaching! My current role is teaching 3rd grade in Sarasota County.
Meghan Martinez
Meghan Martinez is a dedicated educator with a deep passion for instilling a lifelong love of mathematics in her students. She has been teaching for 18 years and is currently teaching fourth-grade Math, Science, and Social Studies at Cypress Trails Elementary, she brings extensive experience to the classroom, having previously served as a K-5 Math Resource Teacher for the Palm Beach County School District from 2018 to2025. In her district-level position, she provided ongoing professional development and support to mathematics teachers, developed and shared curriculum resources for educators throughout the district, and facilitated virtual and in-person sessions at the annual FCTM conference.
Meghan’s dedication to mathematics education is complemented by her enthusiasm for continuous learning and collaboration with colleagues. She has initiated and led various efforts to promote professional development. Nominated by her peers for Math Teacher of the Year in 2017,Meghan actively pursues ongoing professional growth, holding Google Educator Level 1 and Level 2 certifications, as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Her dedication to both student success and collaborative peer enrichment makes her an outstanding nominee for the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics Region 10 Director.
Dr. Joan O’Brien
Dr. Joan O’Brien has acted as an advocate for quality Mathematics Education throughout her teaching career as a Classroom teacher, MathDepartment Head, District Instructional Support Facilitator, and School-based Math Coach in Broward County Public Schools. Joan was thePast-President of the Broward County Council of Teachers of Mathematics (BCCTM) and is currently the Region XII Director for FCTM.Currently, Joan is teaching mathematics in a BCPS Public Middle school.
Additionally, Dr. O’Brien is an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University working with teachers in the Master of Mathematics Education Program. It would be her honor to continue in the role of Region XII Director on the FCTM board.
Jessica Richard
Jessica is a math coach at Marathon High School in Monroe County. Here is her bio:
I am a dedicated and student-centered educator with over twenty years of teaching and leadership experience, committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities and supporting both students and colleagues. Throughout my career, I have served as a math teacher, department chair, mentor, at-large member of BLPT, Mu Alpha Theta sponsor, and senior class sponsor. Now serving as math coach, I work side by side with teachers to strengthen instruction, analyze data, and implement high-yield strategies that are driving increased math achievement across the entire department. A recent highlight of my professional career has been leading my students to the highest Geometry achievement scores in the district, along with completing my master’s degree in Educational Leadership. My commitment to professional growth, coupled with my ability to inspire others, has contributed to strong student outcomes and a school community that values excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
